The excitement is starting to build. Inspiration is everywhere and finally some newness to lust over. Autumn/Winter – every fashion girl’s favourite season, is upon us.
I’m leaning back into the pieces that always make me feel most like me – leather jackets, denim and trench coats. But I’m also looking for fresh ways to mix them up, to keep my wardrobe feeling modern and relevant.
The end of summer always signals the return of my most-loved leathers. Nour Hammour, Róhe and a vintage favourite remain my go-tos, with De Savary’s newly launched bomber now added into the mix.
An often-overlooked detail, a glimpse of sock against skin feels modern and comes into its own as the temperature drops. They add comfort, keep feet cosy and give even the simplest outfit a considered finish. I’ve linked some of my favourites below – from the sheer pairs I’ve worn for years, to Comme Si (the ultimate sock brand), and COS for the best high-street option.
With how fast the trend cycle moves, it’s refreshing to see suede still having its moment. For me, it’s never been a trend but a go-to for adding texture to an outfit. The easiest way to wear it? An oversized blazer or bomber jacket—thrown over jeans and knitwear, layered with a slip dress or paired with cargos. Zara has some of the best on the high street, my De Savary jacket from last year is still available, and Hush’s suede blazer is another great option.
A trench coat is a forever classic, and I love how the way we style it evolves each season. I wear mine with relaxed jeans or tailoring and flip-flops, with trackpants and trainers, or thrown over a slip dress. I’m especially into styles with interesting details – like the one Kendall wears here with denim and heels. I’ve always been drawn to hybrid pieces: practical, but versatile enough to dress up a casual look or tone down something polished (heels and a smart bag, for example). That contrast is what makes an outfit feel modern. Current favourites are from Skall Studio, Autograph and Kallmeyer.
While I save a lifetime for Zoë Kravitz’s 20ct Oval Eclipse Diamond, casually strung on a black cord from Jessica McCormack, I’ve found a smaller (but still very cool) alternative at Monica Vinader. You can use my code EMMAROSETMV for 20% off.
