I feel my best when I’m wearing jeans, and I’ve built up quite a collection over the years. If I’m ever second-guessing my outfit, I’ll revert to denim as it’s truly where I feel my most confident
The more worn in and beaten up my jeans are, the more I love them. I’ve had some pairs in my collection for over 10 years, and they just get better and more comfortable with wear
I invest in my jeans; I know you can get some great pairs on the high street, but I’ve found that there’s not much difference price-wise between Levi’s and some high street pairs, and the denim quality is so much better on a pair of Levi’s. Or even better still, source a pair of vintage jeans via Pin Denim.
My jeans ground my outfits, by using my sliding scale method I can dress them up or down to make work for multiple occasions. I also use them to add irony to my looks by pairing worn in denim with a ladylike shoe or jacket, this makes me feel balanced and covers the effortless, elevated with a little edge tick box I like to think about when putting my outfits together.
Although many of my jeans may look the same, the slight details can often make an outfit work and keep an outfit from feeling basic. The length, the rise, the fit or the wash I choose are all dependent on the final look I want to create. Am I wearing a heel or a flat? What are the proportions of the top half? What colours am I wearing? All very important questions I consider when pairing my jeans to my outfit!
