In Partnership with NET-A-PORTER
It’s that time of year when new arrivals start landing, tempting us to make considered investments that truly earn their place in our wardrobes.
I’ve come to rely on a uniform that makes those decisions simpler. When something fits into my formula, I know I’ll wear it on repeat and feel good every time.
NET-A-PORTER is always my starting point. I trust their edit and love how they balance heritage designers with new names to know.
I recently placed a new-season order, including this Esse Studios Coat, and it already feels like my go-to for autumn. The weight is perfect for now, the tailored cut elevates my jeans-and-tee formula, and the extra-long length adds just enough interest.
I also ordered The Frankie Shop coat. There’s something about a long coat with bare legs and loafers that I always come back to, and this one feels like the perfect addition to my early autumn wardrobe. I only planned on keeping one, the Esse Studios is a clear favourite, but I’m not sure I can bring myself to return The Frankie Shop. My mantra this autumn is not to overcomplicate, and throwing a long coat over simple outfits feels like the ultimate style hack.
Leather is a constant in my wardrobe, and this jacket from Róhe (one of my favourite brands right now) is the perfect update. Worn with straight black jeans and a silk vest, it’s a reminder that you don’t need to overcomplicate. The mix of textures and contrast keeps it modern and effective.
Another simple formula, elevated through small styling tweaks. The oversized coat creates shape and silhouette, while polished accessories lift the classic jeans-and-tee base.
A mini dress layered under a super-long tailored coat instantly shifts the look from high summer to early autumn. The silk texture of the dress makes this combination work (linen would feel too seasonal), while the addition of boots gives a subtle nod to autumn dressing.
Another jeans-and-loafers combination, but this time with silk to give the outfit a lift. Fabric and silhouette can make or break an outfit. Dôen’s collections capture that balance perfectly with pieces that feel right for the shift into autumn.
A silk printed camisole (another Dôen find) styled with relaxed tailoring and slingbacks. It has a more polished feel that works perfectly for the last days of summer and can be layered easily as we move into autumn.
Another easy way to change up your look with low effort and maximum impact is through jewellery. I love taking a statement piece and pairing it with a jeans-and-tee look.
The contrast often feels cooler than wearing dressy jewellery with an already dressy outfit
You don’t need much, just a few pieces you can rely on to add impact. For me it’s usually a statement earring, chunky necklace or sleek bracelet that catches my eye. And I love the idea of having a signature; whether that’s an ear stack, a simple necklace you never take off, or a favourite ring.
